FEASIBILITY

We use an aluminum-coated Mylarfoil (less than 8g/m⊃2;). This foil is heatproof up to 300 degrees (moon temperature in the sun 172 degrees Celsius). Size of the foil: 400 x 25 meters = 10,000 m⊃2; (possibly in several length) *. So this foil has got a terrestrial weight of 80 kilograms (13,33 kg on the moon).

After the designs of the initiators and many further artists the Mylarfoil will be gold-colored vaporized (gold-colored because of the reflection) ** and by astronauts spread out on the lunar surface.

LUNAR BASE planned for 2020

The reflection of the foil is down to 99 % of the incident sunlight. Those of the lunar surface is substantially smaller. We should be able to recognize the work of art from the earth with a telescope as bright strips on the moon. Google Moon will show the individual works of art later also.

The size of the folded up foil is smaller than 80 x 80 x 65 cm. Whether it will be transportet folded or rolled we still don’t know.

The next manned moon missions are planned for 2018. The first is planned on the back of the moon. Then further follow. For the presentation of the first work of art on the moon the period is aimed between 2020 and 2025 on its visible front.

Mylarfoil finds also application in space travel and presently it is the lightest fabric with the highest firmness, which can be manufactured. The research goes by to make this foil still easier what would reduce the transport costs of the work of art.

*For the moment I don’t know any machines, which can transfer the print from 25 meters.

** possibly the motive on the foil can also be shown in black, which would be a strong contrast to the underground. Here we must let examine, however the Mylarfoil will look with a black motive, because on black an extreme heat can develop.
